From Mrs. Schreck:
"Today we learned the three states of matter! Students observed that a root beer float contains all three states of matter! The ice cream is solid, root beer is a liquid and when the two come together the carbonation creates a gas. YUM!"
From Mrs. Dove:
"Mrs. Lamar’s Kindergarteners enjoyed their free day in STEAM Lab. They earned it after five weeks of good behavior in Library and STEAM!"
From Mrs. Schreck:
"4th graders in Mrs. Schreck’s class learned about the rock cycle with a sweet treat! We learned about each rock formation. Depending the step, a smore can represent an igneous, sedimentary or metaphoric rock!"
“Winner winner chicken dinner!" Missi and Stephanie have been having a contest to see if elementary or high school can get their attendance in first the most amount of days. High school won, so Stephanie treated the HS teachers to sonic drinks and “chicken” sugar cookies made by Ms. Carrianne. GR8 job JH/HS teachers!! (Stephanie also had a sign and a t shirt made to celebrate the occasion. They aren’t competitive at all in the office!!! 😉)
From Miss Hilt: "In Bio II, we have been learning about fungi, so we decided to experiment with growing mold on bread! Students were able to pick off pieces of mold to look at under the microscope. They were able to identify what appeared to be fungal spores in many of the pieces! We are still working on this experiment and analyzing how different conditions affect mold growth!"
What a spectacular Veteran's Day Assembly!
From Mrs. Anderson: "FBLA Officer Nicole Rounds met with legion members many times to make the assembly a success. FBLA Officers who spoke this morning are pictured with Daniel Avegalio. We would like to thank him again for the wonderful speech he gave at the assembly!"

Tomorrow is our celebration of Veteran's Day. Please support our efforts to honor those that have served our country by wearing patriotic colors.
GR VIII School District (#TIGER NATION) would like to thank all who have served and those who or are serving. We would also like to take a moment to remember those who never made it home. (POW/MIA).
We are thankful & grateful for your service.
Osmosis, selective breeding and feeding relationships simulations were in full swing in Mrs. Donaldson's science classrooms this week.
Each year we continue to register more students for the WCMMEA All-District Band Auditions. This year was no different as we traveled with 3 of our Green Ridge Musicians to Warrensburg to audition and 3 more to observe the process and volunteer for the day.
Natalie Demschick, Brinlee Leonard, and Angelica Georgyiev volunteered their Saturday to help as room monitors at the auditions and to see what the process was like as they will eligible to audition next year.
Miles and Evee Porter auditioned as freshmen on alto saxophone and flute. Both were just a couple spots shy of making the Honorable Mention Band and are all the more ready to tackle the material for next year's auditions.
Callie Knoernschild auditioned on Horn and secured a spot in the All-District Band and will go on to audition for the All-State Band on December 7th. The All-District Band performance will be Saturday, January 11, 2025
Thanks for all the support and well-wishes as Rylee and Trenton represented Green Ridge today at MSHSAA's Class 1 Cross Country State Championship. Both left the race feeling disappointed by unmet expectations as, for a variety of reasons, neither performed to their fullest potential. Like life, despite our greatest intentions, races can be unpredictable. As a coach, and parent, I couldn't be more proud of their effort and heart though! Trenton finished 89th in the State and Rylee 115th. While both were projected for better - for two dual-sport athletes that spent the majority of the season playing soccer, and not training for a 5,000 meter race, I'd say they did pretty well! The State Championship is an awesome opportunity and I'm thankful they got to experience it - Trenton for the first time as a Freshman and Rylee for the third time as a Junior. I have full confidence both will return to Gans Creek again next year. Until then, they're eager for track season...and shorter distances. 😆 Thanks again for everyone's support this season. 🥰

The kids LOVED Mr. Taylor’s Undertaker this morning!!!
From Mrs. Flandermeyer:
"I took my 5th hour 8th grade class to the library today. I looked over to see one of my 8th grade girls reading to a little girl who wasn't feeling well. I had to capture the love!"💜
Check out these awesome students! They've been caught being GR-8!
The 8th graders caught on to the teachers’ underground spirit week and decided to come up with their own theme today. Can you guess what it is?
From Mrs. Hilt: "Third grade built and tested houses to see if they could resist high winds."
Mrs. Sleeper's students were practicing some word work today!
Socks and sandals...what a "coincidence!"
Mr. Rollins checked in on Algebra 2 students during independent work time after his lesson.
