Red Ribbon Week put drugs in the past with Decades Day and looked to a GR8 future with our awards assembly this afternoon!
Our tigers are too smart for drugs! They enjoyed dressing nerdy today!
Tomorrow, we are leaving drugs in the past! Pick a former decade & dress from the past!
HS soccer match at home tonight is on. They will be playing against St. Paul's Lutheran, and kickoff will be at 5:00 pm. Go tigernation
Congratulations to Lane Fox for being nominated and recognized for our outstanding senior student at this month’s Rotary Luncheon. Lane is a great role model for other GR8 students!
Lane is involved in many activities including National Honor Society, math club, baseball, scholar bowl, archery, and a few others. His heaviest responsibilities are tied to FFA, where he serves as the GRHS FFA chapter president and as the Area 8 regional sentinel.
Following graduation, Lane plans on attending the Missouri University of Science and Technology, where he will pursue a degree in Aerospace Engineering. Following college, he would like to apply for an Aerospace Engineering job at NASA, SpaceX, or Boeing.
We are all proud of Lane and his accomplishments so far, and will support him as he pursues higher goals in his life.
Congratulations again Lane Fox!!!
Mrs. Manz, our LETRS Program trainer, was in the building today working with students and modeling lessons for teachers. Our teachers have been empowered with solid phonemic awareness and phonics instruction, and our students are already reaping the benefits! Thank you for spending the day with us!
Mrs. Johnson's students have been working hard in their guided reading groups--tapping out sounds, practicing fluency, working on comprehension, and so much more!

JH Soccer game is playing this evening at 6:30 p.m. in Smithton. The Tigers are playing for third place in the Kaysinger Conference Tournament. Good Luck Tigers.
Mrs. Thompson has modeled several reading skills and strategies for her students this month. She is gradually releasing the responsibility to the students as they gain confidence to complete these tasks independently. Her students have been practicing reading the questions before reading their passages. They have learned to split their Chromebook screen, focus on one line of text at a time, and highlight text.
From Ms. Dailey:
"I am so proud of these first graders for working together and problem solving together so well. I wish you could hear their conversations!! They even know how to disagree respectfully!"
Mrs. Piscopo's class enjoyed a morning at the Big Bear Pumpkin Patch last week. Some of the activities included riding the zipline, jumping in the bounce house, a hay ride, playing bubbles, and sliding into the corn pit. They also got to pick out their own pumpkin from the pumpkin patch.
GR8 Staff voted for Mrs. Brock & Mrs. Marriott as the Terrific Tiger Teachers for October.
GR8 is very thankful to have these two call Gr8 home.
Congratulations ladies- well deserved!
