"After finishing our simple machines and kinetic and potential energy unit, we built balloon powered cars. This was a tough task for the students, and it really tested their patience, independence, and team building skills. AND they did fabulous! Every single one of their cars worked! They may not have gone as far as they wanted them to, but they worked! They got to show their creativity with the supplies they chose to use, and we had several groups helping other groups!
Congratulations to Sophomore, Callie Knoernschild on her outstanding audition Saturday, November 11th.
On Saturday, Callie, along with Senior, Isabel Knoernschild, traveled to Warrensburg to audition for the All-District Band. Callie earned a spot in the French Horn section and will head to All-State auditions on Saturday, December 2nd.

“National Fall Leadership Conference Day 2: Students attended the opening session, met part of the National Officer Team and connected with several other FBLA members in workshops. We are ending the day with a Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament."
Fall Party Fun!
HS Basketball District assignments came out today! Green Ridge Boys will be Class 2, and Green Ridge Girls will be Class 1. The Boys district will include: Concordia, Northwest, Santa Fe, Smithton, Sweet Springs, and Tipton. The Girls include: Bunceton w/Prairie Home, La Monte, Otterville, Pilot Grove, Sacred Heart, and Sweet Springs.
High School Basketball starts their season tonight in Crest Ridge. JV boys will start the night with two quarters at 5:30, and will be followed by Varsity Girls, then Varsity Boys. Go TigerNation!
Students in Ms. Tylar's 5th and 6th period social studies classes had an engaging lesson today! As she presented the lesson: Voting in Congress--It's more than just "Yea" or "Nay," students had to take on the role of a Senator or Representative and choose a Political Party. Then, based on their position, the students made decisions about how they would represent their constituents as bills were introduced for a vote!
Mrs. Warner's 1st graders have been solving word problems with an unknown addend. Keep up the good work!!!

Our very own Mrs. Hilt was honored today at the MSTA conference with the Unsung Heroes Award for her service to our school, students, and MSTA!!! There will be an article in the upcoming School and Community magazine. Mrs. Hilt, we are SO PROUD of you and appreciate all you do here at Green Ridge R8!!!

"National Fall Leadership Conference Day 1:
FBLA Students toured the Bureau of Engraving and Printing - Western Currency Facility. Pictures aren’t allowed.
We learned a little Texas History and watched the Cattle Drive in Fort Worth. They had lunch and a line dancing lesson at Billy Bobs.
We ended the day touring the Dallas Cowboys Stadium!"
The Missouri State High School Volleyball Coaches Association just announced the 2023 All State Team. Our very own, Nevaeh Washington, #12 Senior MB, was named to the Class 1 team! Nevaeh finished her season at the top of the Missouri leader boards in class 1. She ranked 11th in aces, 14th in digs, 17th in kills, and 32nd in blocks! Coach Larimore and Coach Cowart are proud and excited for Nevaeh as this is well deserved. Please help us congratulate her!

Mrs. Shoop's class started a unit over 2 digit addition. They practiced using ones to make a group of ten and counted what was left. GR8 work!!!
Students in Mr. Taylor's class are creating their US government tree with the branches of government and duties of each branch represented by leaves.

"Over the last few weeks, my students have been working on travel brochures. They got to pick their state and they had to research and make a creative and informative brochure. They did such a great job, and today to finish off the unit we got to present our brochures to Mrs. Johnson’s third grade class!😊"
