GR R-VIII Community, (TIGER NATION)
This proud and stories community has a lot to be proud of!
Congratulations to our fabulous lunch ladies! They were selected as our Terrific Tiger Staff this month. These women have been an amazing ray of sunshine each morning at breakfast and at lunch time. They have taken some tough moments at the start of the school year and made the most of them to rock the menus. The atmosphere they have created since day one has been a delightful experience coming through the line and spreading out into seating area. I am grateful for the refreshing personalities and tasty dishes coming from the kitchen. They work hard to make delicious and delightful food and it shows. Thank you.
Jr. High students enjoyed a visit today from Rollo, a 12 year old ball python.
From Miss Dailey:
"Red noses for run Rudolph run day!"🥰
From Miss Treuner:
"Second grade made a reptile friend today. Meet Rollo. Some of us were more fond of it than others!"

From Miss Dailey:

Mrs. Zimmerschied had an engaging lesson to begin the study of early religions in World History. Students responded on white boards to a series of questions posed relating to beliefs, values, and superstitions. At times, she utilized thumbs up/down to gauge the pulse of the class. There was a lot of great discussion. This will be an interesting unit!
Second graders LOVE to play Sparkle to practice their spelling words before the test! Here are a few of today's Sparkle champions!
Mrs. Cooley & her FFA students are busy sorting and delivering orders! The meat truck comes tomorrow! It’s like Santa’s workshop in the Ag Building this week! Thanks again to all who supported our FFA students this year!
Mrs. Piscopo’s candy canes!

From Miss Hilt: "In physical science, we have been learning about electricity and current. Students used foil, batteries, Christmas lights, and brads to make series and parallel circuits of their own!"
TIGER NATION COMMUNITY,
We are reaching out to inform you about an important development that will impact our district, our dedicated teachers, and the education of our students. Recently, the state passed SB 727, which establishes new minimum salary requirements for teachers, including a pay increase for those holding a master’s degree. This law is designed to ensure that educators are compensated fairly for their hard work and dedication.
While we support fair compensation for our teachers, it is important to note that the state is shifting the responsibility for funding this mandate onto local communities. Our district has not had an operating levy increase in 25 years, and the funding required to meet these new salary standards will necessitate an increase in our operating levy.
This levy increase will be proposed to our community in the coming months, and we want to be transparent with you about why it is necessary. The new state law aims to boost teacher pay, which is critical to recruiting and retaining top-tier educators. For our district to remain competitive, maintain our excellent staff, and continue offering the high-quality education our students deserve, we need to ensure that we have the resources to support this mandate.
We are committed to keeping our school relevant, strong, and attractive to both current and future teachers. Our staff is one of our greatest assets, and their dedication to our students is what makes our school district exceptional. However, without this operating levy increase, we risk falling behind in the recruitment and retention of talented teachers who are crucial to our children's future.
We will be providing more information and hosting community forums in the coming weeks to discuss this proposal and address any questions you may have. Your support is vital as we work together to continue providing a high-quality education and maintain the incredible staff that makes our school district a place where students thrive.
Thank you for your ongoing support and involvement in our school community.
