Fourteen 7th and 8th graders participated in this year's Kaysinger Conference Art Contest at the MO State Fairgrounds. After a long, hot day outside, we wound up taking home three ribbons. There were around 80 participants with all the participating schools combined. Our students worked hard and had a positive attitude all day! Congrats to Hallie Meyer who placed 1st in Colored Pencil, Mark Kariaka who placed 3rd in Marker and Josiah Donaldson, who placed 4th in Chalk Pastel.

Lady Tigers struggled controlling the ball Monday night as both JV and Varsity suffered losses to the Osceola Indians. In the JV match, Abby Warner and Kayden Box each served for 5 aces and Jellisa Atwood finished with 4 kills in 2-set loss 20-25, 16-25 against tough blocking Osceola front-row.  In the Varsity game, Lady Tigers struggled on serve-receive and never figured out how to defend the angle-shot from the Lady Indians strong serving and sharp-angle- hitting offense.  Losing in 4 sets,  14-25, 15-25, 25-19, 21-25, Lady Tigers were led offensively by Nevaeh Washington's 13 kills. Kayley Goodman added 7 kills and 4 aces. Lady Tigers are now 6-4-1 and return to Kaysinger action tonight as they travel Stover to take on the Lady Bulldogs.

Parents, guardians, and students: We have some news! There have been recent discussions about hats being worn in school. Students and teachers have both weighed in with their opinions on the issue. Therefore, after much deliberation, we have made the decision to allow students to wear ball caps, stocking caps, and beanies to school and during school. With this exciting news, we have a few rules for students to follow. First, students' ears should always be visible to teachers throughout the day--the hat cannot cover the ears. Second, students may not wear hoods. Third, hats worn cannot be a disruption to learning. If the hat becomes a distraction to the student or others they will be asked to remove their hat for the day. Lastly, teachers may occasionally ask for students to remove their hats for various reasons, including during the Pledge of Allegiance. If asked to remove their hat, students should oblige. Enjoy wearing your headgear!

Junior Varsity couldn't get the momentum rolling in their favor to start the night with a 2-set loss 22-25, 14-25.  Sophomores Jellisa Atwood and Abby Warner each served for 2 aces a piece in the match that didn't see much Lady Tiger offense.   Varsity Lady Tigers were dealt their first loss of the season by Santa Fe Lady Chiefs. Chief's offense pounded the ball from all areas of the net keeping our Lady Tigers scrambling in the 3-set loss 16-25, 17-25, 15-25.  Senior middle hitter Kelsey Buxton played a finesse match leading the Tiger's offense and defense at the net with 4 kills and 3 blocks.  Junior outside hitter Nevaeh Washington chipped in 5 kills.  Senior Matti Mergen finished with 3 aces, 6 assists, and also led the defense with 12 digs. Lady Tigers travel to Crest Ridge Thursday night to continue the fight.  Then they will be leaving Friday morning for the Dig For Life Tournament in Cape Girardeau where the Varsity Lady Tigers will battle it out with 44 other teams!  Hey Rah Tigers!
