In Ms. Tylar's 8th grade ELA classes, they read the story Fancy Dancer and the students were encouraged to participate in the Fancy Dancer writing contest through Scholastic. The writing prompt was to write a letter from Rory to his uncle Fred about his experience with the powwow and anything else he might want to share.
Jessic Orlov won a book from Scholastic. GR8 job, Jessica!
Today we hosted our annual Veteran's Day assembly. We want to thank everyone who took time out of their day to come and honor our Veterans, community members, family, and friends. Also want to thank our special guests in attendance, State Rep. Rodger Reedy and guest speaker Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler. And most importantly, thank you to all the Veterans. Without you, this day wouldn't be possible!
Also, a shout out to my outstanding FBLA chapter who put in a lot of hard work putting this all together. And great job to the officers that had the opportunity to speak at the podium, you guys did amazing!
GRHS held its annual National Honor Society (NHS) chapter inductions this evening. We recognized our new inductees, senior members, and new officer team. Congratulations to all of these deserving students. They are GR8 examples of service, citizenship, character, and scholarship.
Our Junior High Musicians have been busy this week! We enjoy having opportunities like these to come together with other schools, learn from other directors, and create wonderful memories.
On Wednesday, November 2nd, several of our 7th & 8th grade band members attended the Kaysinger Conference Band event in Stover, MO.
On Saturday, November 5th, several of our 7th & 8th grade vocalists attended the WCMMEA Junior High Honor Choir held at the University of Central Missouri.
The Green Ridge Music Department has been very busy the last couple of weeks with a number of events with our vocalists and instrumentalists. We would not be able to attend all that we have without the help of our own Kristy Allen.
Kristy is a vital part of the Music Department and my other half. We are strong individually, but even stronger as a team and our students benefit greatly from having her in the classroom and on stage with us.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for all you do for me, our students, and our school community!

Central Bank sponsored Reality Check in Green Ridge this morning. Senior students and others enrolled in Personal Finance classes participated in this simulation. It provides opportunities for students to walk through one month of financial responsibility given a random family dynamic, career and salary. This challenged our students to evaluate life choices of needs and wants.
We greatly appreciate Central Bank for organizing Reality Check for our students, and much appreciation goes out to the many volunteers that made it happen. Thank you!
We are so proud of our GR8 Cross Country Team!
On Saturday, Rylee Donaldson qualified for State at the Class 1 District 3 cross country meet. Rylee represents Green Ridge at the State meet this Saturday at Gans Creek.
Keep up the GR8 work, Rylee! #GR8proud
Lady Tiger Volleyball Season Finish
The Lady Tigers finished their volleyball season last week playing Osceola in the semi-finals of District 13. Starting off the night slow, Lady Tigers lost the first two sets 15-25, 23-25 before fighting back to win the next two sets 25-17, 25-23. The Osceola offense outlasted the Tiger's scrappy defense to win the fifth and deciding set 15-10.
Dominating offensively, Nevaeh Washington played a precise match hitting .317 on the night and finishing with 23 kills. Adding to the offense were: Kayley Goodman, 9 kills; Sydney Gordan, 7 kills; and Emery Cannon, 6 kills. Matti Mergen dished out 21 assists on the night and Gordon had 18 as they setup the offense. Mergen also served for 3 aces in the 5-set match. Â
Washington led the Lady Tigers defensively as well as she scrambled on backrow getting 29 digs. And it was quite a night on defense as 6 players finished with double-digit digs: Sydney Gordon, 25 digs; Matti Mergen, 25 digs; Santana Rivas, 24 digs; Kayley Goodman, 21 digs; and Emery Cannon, 19 digs. Â
Lady Tigers finished the season with a 17-14-2 record overall and 7-3 in the Kaysinger Conference with a 4th place finish in the Kaysinger. Eight of the losses were to five teams that went on to win district titles - a tough schedule for sure and Lady Tigers held their own!Â

First Team: Kayley Goodman, Nevaeh Washington
