We had a parent call the school yesterday, alerting us of a phone call she received, about her son taking the ACT test. The caller told her they would send ACT prep materials for $200 and then when he returned the materials the money would be refunded.
The caller knew that the test day was March 7, and her son is going to be taking it on that date. GRHS has not uploaded the names to ACT yet, so it seems strange that the caller knew that.
We just want to alert our parents and other communities of this potential issue.
Here are a couple articles that could help provide more insight to testing scams that ramp up this time of year.
This first one mentions the SAT and not the ACT, but it still gives a better explanation of what the scammers are trying to do.
