Look what is happening on the GR playground today! We are resurfacing the asphalt area in order to create a safer surface for students to play on. Our plan is to repaint the kickball and basketball lines soon. Stay tuned! We have more changes coming for our playground!
We want to give a big shout out to our PBIS leadership team for planning and implementing our PBIS Bootcamp last week. This team has lead the GR8 staff in developing and implementing strategies aligned with positive behavior and supports in our school. Thank you team!
Our new art teacher, Mrs. Maxon, took some pictures of her two HS art classes during a brown bag creative challenge. They got a bag of random items and had 20 minutes to create something original!
Mrs. Thompson's 4th graders used shaving cream, food coloring, and cardstock to make their own tie dye name. GR8 way to build bonds with new classmates!
Ms. Dailey's Firsties acted out "The Three Little Pigs" today. What a great way to practice retelling a story! It also served as a GR8 class building activity!

Mrs. Bates modeled The Itsy Bitsy Spider with her kindergarteners this week. It is going to be exciting to watch these students bloom this year!
Mrs Donaldson's 7th and 8th grade science classes and high school biology class spent a couple days getting reacquainted with each other while learning how to engineer with constraints.
Mrs. Donaldson's science classes participated in a Windy City Tower Design Challenge this week! This was an introduction to working with others to problem solve.
Mr. Doane's 5th & 6th Grade Science classes participated in a t-shirt temperature check experiment. Throughout the day each class got to go outside and check the temperature of a variety of different types of t-shirts to determine which one would be the coolest and which one would be the warmest to wear outside on a day like today!
Mrs. Warner’s first grade class read "The Three Little Pigs." Then, they created stick puppets and used them to practice retelling the story with a partner. GR8 Work, Firsties!

Ms. Treuner's class has already read their first two stories: "Rainbow Fish" and "Do Unto Otters!" They worked on some comparing and contrasting activities today!
Second Graders spent some time this week learning about their classmates and learning how to be a good friend! They read "Rainbow Fish" and completed a writing exercise. They also created a Back to School glyph!
Mrs. White was familiarizing her Language Arts ll students with resources available for her class this year! And so it begins!!!

Mr. Taylor presented an All About Me slideshow to his students before turning them loose to record and share information about themselves. Ask your student how close Mr. Taylor is to becoming a black belt! So interesting!
