It's Read-A-Thon time again! We are asking our K-6 students to read 20 minutes every day, and ask friends and family to pledge money to them for their reading. Help us raise funds for field trips, and many other things provided by PTO.
Hey Tiger Nation! Let's have a red Friday to show our Chief's spirit as the KC Chiefs take on the Baltimore Ravens this weekend in the AFC championship playoff game!
This Friday, January 26, is the JH/HS 1st Semester Awards at 2:30pm.
We have been away from school for a while and just now able to recognize our December 2023 Students of the Month.
Congratulations to Spencer Melville (3rd), Dale Rupe (5th), Arianna Burton (7th) and Gage Howe (10th)! You have embodied our expectations of being Safe, Respectful, and Responsible. GR8 Job Tigers!
Spencer Melville
Spencer is a hardworking student. He does what is asked of him to the best of his ability. When asked to try to figure out what to do, he reads, rereads, tries, and retries until he figures it out. If another student needs help, he is the first to volunteer, no matter who the student is. He is a good friend to all. If someone feels left out or upset, he will invite them to join in whatever he is doing. His attitude and kindness are greatly appreciated by his teacher and the students.
Dale Rupe
DALE IS THE BEST!!! In all seriousness Dale is the definition of a model student. His eagerness for school and determination to give his absolute best for all of his teachers does not go unnoticed. If you need anything done, Dale will happily volunteer to help. It doesn't stop there though, Dale has been caught many times teaching his peers when they need help with a math concept, or social studies vocabulary. You know what you're going to get from Dale every day, a student that follows the expectations and gives 100% effort.
Arianna Burton
She is always in line with our PBIS targets. She is responsible - she is the first and sometimes the only student who finds out what work she will miss when an event is coming up and will be missing class; respectful - she has such great manners, please and thank you regularly and offers help when needed; safe - generally she is great at following rules, ready for class, walking down the hall, mindful of others
Gage Howe
Gage has been doing an excellent job of demonstrating respect and responsibility this year. He has worked diligently to complete and turn in his assignments and makes sure to communicate with his teachers if he misses class for any reason. Gage also demonstrates respect towards his teachers by being willing to assist with tasks when needed. Gage also actively participates in class discussions and projects.
We are grateful to have friends like these amazing students helping one another at Green Ridge R-8 School District. Go TigerNation!
From Mrs. Fox: "The Sophomores traveled to SFCC-CTC today to visit two programs they might be interested in attending their Junior and Senior years. GR students who are interested need to apply by February 1st. Talk to your sophomore student to see what they thought of today's visit.
CTC offers several wonderful programs with great opportunities, including a chance to earn dual credit. These programs are offered at no cost to our students."
From Mrs. Lamar: "We finished up learning about Martin Luther King Jr. today in class. We drew a picture of something we wish for the world in our dream bubbles. When we completed that, we had a gallery walk so that we could talk about each of them and ask each other questions."

Good evening TigerNation:
We had a professional crew come to our school to clean up the water mess from our burst pipe. We have nearly 100 fans throughout the building. According to the work crew, proper drying practices require 3-5 days of drying out.
With this information provided by them, we will NOT be in session on Thursday or Friday (Jan 18-19) this week. Thursday will be AMI day 5, Friday will be a traditional "snow day". Please communicate with your teachers with any questions with student work.
Unfortunately we have used many days already, and we are still in January. If we have any further missed days, we will have to look at dates for make up.
We will continue to supply CTC transportation as long as they are in session.
Our 2nd quarter Elem Awards Assembly scheduled for Friday will be rescheduled.
Update:
We had standing water in many classroom and the few offices in the HS wing. We are getting the mess cleaned up and getting the water turned back on soon. So, we will expect to have school tomorrow.
Today-we will still provide transportation to CTC for those students wanting/needing a ride.
Practice times for basketball teams will be provided by your coaches when that becomes available.
NO school today, January 17. Due to cracked water lines, we are without water today. Please complete AMI day 4.
Sorry for the late notice and any inconvenience this may cause.
