Harmony was practicing Adele's "Skyfall" this week. Wow! Can't wait for concert season!

Mrs. Piscopo's Kinders were busy working on letters and sounds this week! They are getting more confident all the time!

Mrs. Lamar taught some computer skills in small groups this week.

From Mrs. Sleeper:
"We went outside to practice our letters with chalk yesterday with kindergarten! They had to run to the letter I called out and then tell me the sound that letter makes. We also practiced writing names and letters in chalk and even spelled and sounded out some words!!"

From Miss Hilt:
"Physical science students created a balloon rocket to demonstrate Newton's 3 Laws of Motion!"

From Miss Dailey:
"Today, we practiced 2 syllable words by matching 1 syllable cards together to make words! The kids thought it was so nice, we did it twice!!"

The student lounge area is a great learning space for a small group!

From Mrs. Schreck:
"Each text in the next reading unit focuses on animal adaptations. Students participated in an activity today that helped them learn the meaning of adapting and adaptation. After reading a book about a chameleon changing colors, students created their own chameleons to camouflage around the classroom. This was a great way to introduce this new vocabulary word!"

Students reviewed the compare and contrast nonfiction text structure during whole group reading. As an introduction activity, students found similarities and differences about classmates in a real life venn diagram! Students used sticky notes to label each person with similarities and differences! Mrs. Schreck and Mrs. Hammers even joined in on the fun!

With just under 20 minutes remaining in the game Smithton managed to tie the game. Both teams pressed to break the tie in the final minutes with your Tigers coming up just short on several opportunities but the game remained tied.

JH Soccer played in the St. Peter Tourney on Saturday. The competition was good, and the boys battled all day. In the opener, St. Peter won in a defensive battle 1-0. We played a very strong St. Paul team in the second game and lost 3-0. Max Knoernschild was in goal for both games and played well with 7 saves. Our last game resulted in a 4-3 loss to La Monte. Ivas Lemanski scored two goals, with Alex Diaz scoring the third. Matvii Nochka had two assists. Cole Chappell was in goal and had 8 saves. Coach Dove stated that he saw progress and many players are continuing to develop their skills. JH Soccer plays next on Wednesday, 10/9 vs. Smithton at home. We appreciate all the parents and family members that made it to the tourney to support the team!

Mr. Tester's 8th graders have started their presentations for their North American Native Research Project. More students will present next week. These were the brave students who volunteered to go first!

Mr. Taylor's students have been studying ancient Mesopotamia. They recently learned about the Epic of Gilgamesh. On Friday, they tried their hand at cuneiform writing using clay and toothpicks. Mr. Taylor gave them a reference sheet of various symbols that stood for letter combinations. They worked hard on their messages!

Mr. Underwood's coding class was busy designing individual projects for the 3D printer. They are also designing some surprises we will share out at a later date! To be continued... 😉
