Run Date: 11-09-2012 MO DEPT ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION
Run Time: 11:17:45 EPEGS
Submitted Date:   Education Technology Plan
SCHOOL YEAR: 2012 - 2013
DISTRICT: 080-121 GREEN RIDGE R-VIII
Mission Statement: In partnership with parents and community, the Green Ridge R-VIII School will provide educational experiences that will enable all students to become life-long learners and productive informed citizens.
Local Needs: The District's improvement planning team, represented by the entire community; parents, business leaders, patrons, students and staff, have determined the following to be the local needs of the Green Ridge R-VIII School District. 1. Assessment- Student assessments (ACT, SAT 10, MAP and EOC's and other reading assessments) will drive instruction and improve curriculum and professional development. (1)Teachers will be provided training and students will be provided incentives for meeting District goals on required testing. Individual student needs will be met through Special Education and Title programs and extended learning opportunities. (2) Highly Qualified Staff- The district will continue to evaluate state and local revenue resources and compare data from other area schools to provide, improve and stay competitive with salaries and benefits. The district will also continue to provide high quality professional development activities that in turn will improve instruction and student learning. (3)Support and Instructional Resources - Every 5 years, with input from staff, students and the community, the Board of Education will develop a long range plan to improve the facility, and provide resources to improve instruction, student learning and technology. (4) Parent and Community Involvement - The district will continue to look at ways to encourage parent involvement in their child's education. Some examples are: scheduling Open House, parent teacher conferences, providing newsletters, using the school web site and parent portal, and providing information on district goals and objectives. (5) Governance - The District will review and update policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements. Student safety, nutrition, health, and behavior will guide the district's vision for policy revision.

Needs Assessment: The technology needs assessment was reviewed in the fall of 2012. It was determined that our highest needs are: 1) Get all computers into a rotation cycle to upgrade them. 2)Install Smartboards in all classrooms. 3) Upgrade our wireless access points to a larger range and more centralized system. 4) Install VoIP systems at all buildings. 5) Change our voicemail to a better server, phone system, or VoIP system. 6)Upgrade our bandwidth as necessary. Teachers need to implement more National Educational Technology Standards for Students. The curriculum needs to incorporate technology at all levels to help students progress into more advanced technologies in the high school. Finally, we will continue to find ways to incorporate more parent and community involvement through increased communication and accessibility.

1. Goal: Develop and enhance quality educational/instructional programs to improve performance and enable students to meet their personal, academic, and career goals.
