President Barry White called the Open Session meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

  1. Approve Health Insurance Benefits for 2016-2017—Anne Slentz from Forrest T. Jones presented the proposed health insurance benefits options for employee insurance for the 2016-2017 school year. She informed the Board of the types of plans offered, benefits offered by each plan, and how each plan functions.

Mrs. Easter proposed offering a 2-option health insurance benefit package for the staff for next year. The package will consist of a board-paid high-deductible health plan (HDHP) with a health savings account (HSA), and a buy-up plan that the employee can contribute to the cost for purchasing a PPO plan. Mrs. Easter also recommended that the Board approves to contribute to employee HSA’s for the difference of the amount of the monthly premium up to $450. This will equate to a board-paid premium of $383 for the HDHP premium and $67 HSA contribution per month per employee. She also recommended that the board contribute $450 towards the cost of the PPO plan with the employee paying the remainder of the premium for that plan if they choose to take the PPO plan instead of the board-paid HDHP with the HSA plan. Mrs. Easter reviewed the plans and costs with the Board. She suggested this option in order to be able to provide a plan that can still be paid 100% by the district for the employee.

Mr. White made a motion to approve the 2-option health insurance benefit plan as presented and to approve $450 to be allowed per employee towards the HDHP premium with $67 per month into the employee’s HSA or approve $450 to be allowed per employee toward the PPO premium with the remainder being paid by the employee. 2nd by Mr. Larimore.
